Some students may choose a research paper based solely on how well the candidate can translate research findings to a testable, relevant question. The type of research paper depends on the student's personality and interests. If the student can do an investigation, gather data, and then make relevant conclusions, they will find it much easier to write a research paper than if they had only performed the research, done the gathering, and then only theorized.Some students will choose a research paper based solely on the name of the author or how easy they find the topic interesting. Sometimes this student will know where the topic is going and may have some knowledge about the topic. While this is often a good choice, the student will be limited in their research because they do not have an idea of what to do next.Other students choose research papers based on th eir own interests. Sometimes students want to research a particular topic and go further into the topic by collecting some facts about the topic. Other students enjoy writing about different facets of a subject. Some of these students prefer to write about things they know about; others are more interested in writing about topics that they are unfamiliar with.If the student does choose a research paper based on their interests, they may still be limited by the research itself. The student may have found a need for the information they are researching, but may not know exactly what they will need. They may be able to get the information, but the researcher may not be able to explain it in a way that is useful to the research project. The information may also be so general that it may seem like the student should write a general research paper.It is important to remember that there are many ways to write a research paper. There are many different styles and methods to write research p apers. Students should not feel limited because of the name of the author.The main goal of any research paper is to help other students learn something that they can apply to real life situations. If the student feels the researcher needs to provide a specific solution to a problem or does not explain a fact adequately, the student should mention it as part of their explanation of the problem. The research should not only be interesting, but it should also be useful in helping the student figure out what they are doing and why they are doing it.As students learn more about writing a research paper, they should begin to realize that they do not have to be perfect. No matter how many times a student can write a research paper, they still need to review their work and edit their paper for errors. It is important to be able to edit any research paper. There is nothing wrong with a student needing a second or third set of eyes looking over their work.Students should always be sure to rem ember that even though they wrote a research paper based on a specific topic, they are not limited by the topic. The topic should not limit the research paper, and neither should the name of the author. Students should strive to be creative when they are writing a research paper, and should be careful not to overstep their boundaries when writing their paper.
